MEET THE MAKER

Out of all the descriptors that could be applied to me, determined is the one that resonates the most. For a decade now, I have pursued the craft of leather-working through self-teaching and personal inspiration from Western culture, cowboy aesthetics, and the natural world.

Leather carving and tooling are my constant focus, occupying my mind and hands day and night. Even when I am not actively working on a piece, I am sketching out new designs or seeking out objects in nature that spark creative ideas.

"Consumed by my passion, I find myself constantly drawn to Western movies and literature, eagerly examining every detail for new inspiration".

"With a diverse work history that ranges from serving in the Armed Forces during my youth to constructing wind turbines in the Scottish mountains, my skill set has only been enhanced. Through these experiences, I have gained valuable knowledge in construction techniques, design, fault finding, and attention to detail. These transferable skills are continually utilised when I work at my leather workbench".

Having dedicated over 1200 hours to the intricate art of carving and tooling leather designs, and meticulously applying paint to further enhance them, I have honed my craft and am now able to produce truly unique and stunning items that are bound to be treasured for a lifetime. As I continue to develop my own style, I am filled with excitement after traveling to the USA recently to seek inspiration from the true masters of this ancient craft.

My greatest ambition is to create a saddle entirely by my own hands, using the knowledge and skills I acquire on my journey towards becoming a master leatherworker.
